A power too terrible to control...
In the wake of their terrifying escape from Fairhaven Hall, sisters Jess and Hannah Ballard find themselves on the run, pursued by the two most powerful groups in the history of the spirit world. On one side, the Durupinen, determined to capture the girls and prevent their role in an ancient prophecy that promises to destroy them and unleash the spirit hordes on the earth. On the other side, the Necromancers, ancient enemies of the Durupinen, hellbent on bringing the same prophecy to fruition. When the girls are betrayed and one of them falls into the Necromancers’ hands, both face decisions with cataclysmic consequences.
Will the lure of power prove too great to resist, or will the bond between the sisters survive this last, most crucial of tests?
Spirit Ascendancy is the much anticipated third and final installment of E.E. Holmes’ award-winning Gateway Trilogy.

I enjoyed the first two books enough to care about how the story ended, so I bought Book 3. If Books 1 or 2 had been as frustrating in regard to the characters - and I'm not talking about just Jess and Hannah (though they were the worse offenders) - I wouldn't have felt the need to buy the third book. I LOVED Savvy and Milo, but my gosh, could the main characters been any more annoying? Why do so many authors decide that tantrums and stupidity are the only way to move a plot along? These characters weren't 13 and yet in this last book that's how they acted. Yes, life dealt them a bad hand...which the first two books explained repeatedly. But was there no better way to handle the build up to the final showdown than create unnecessary drama with childish antics? The plot was wonderful. The bad guys were perfect. The story telling was great...until it just got old with the repeated weakness/denseness of the main characters. In the end, they just became so unlikable.Product details

Spirit Ascendancy The Gateway Trilogy Book 3 eBook EE Holmes Reviews
I loved the way this story wrapped itself up. Good always triumphs over evil and love conquers all! I am particularly enthralled with the elements of Irish added to this story. It makes you think about heritage and how important it is to know the history of family and what your part is in it.
Truly enjoyed the Gateway Trilogy books. The characters were interesting and kept me interested in learning more about them. The plot was fast moving and kept me up until much too late at night! Can’t wait to read the continuing adventures of these characters.
I enjoyed this trilogy and am sad it's over! I liked the lore and mystique woven into the story of a modern day college student who discovers her paranormal "gifts." Minus a few f bombs, these books are pretty tame. There is violence, no sex though it is alluded to, and could probably be enjoyed by readers 13+. In fact I would have liked it even more if it had been more adult! I would read this author again.
A very satisfying end to the trilogy. All the important people are revisited, all the bad guys dealt with, plus another interaction with the Elemental, definitely a strong finish!
This trilogy was okay. It had potential to be really good. I felt the author did not develop the characters well. I did not even like Jessica. She was rude and unkind most of the time. It was hard to feel a connection to most of the characters. Jessica fell for a ghost and then was mean to Finn who seemed like a weak character but was supposed to be her protector. Unmet potential.
I read all three books in the trilogy. This one, by far, was the best. It took a while for the first one to intrigue me. The second one was somewhat better, and this one was very entertaining.
WOW what an action packed book !!! If you love paranormal then you will love Jessica, Hannah, Milo, Finn !! This story was action packed. There was a part at the end which was so beautiful to me, when Jessica was lying on the ground with her deceased mother looking up at the stars talking to her. Honestly, with out going into detail ... this book was hard to put down, as I am discovering with all E. E. Holmes. In fact I just bought the next Trilogy book within the next series.
